A Night In Ireland!

GAMAC will present A Night in Ireland with Celtic band Emerald Road on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 7:30pm at McGee’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. Featuring an evening of delightful entertainment and delectable food, the event will raise money to support GAMAC’s mission to entertain, educate and inspire with great music!

Fans of Irish and Celtic folk music will be captivated by the sounds of Emerald Road. Their energetic and passionate style is rooted in traditional Irish music, however, other musical elements are part of their diverse repertoire. From classical to jazz, Bluegrass to world folk, their playing is influenced by some of the best artists and songs in these genres. With a large following in the Upstate, Emerald Road is comprised of talented family and friends. Sisters and classical performing artists Robin Rash Davis and Kristin Rash Miesbauer had long shared a love of Irish music which led them to study in Limerick, Ireland during a 2001 summer abroad. Soon afterward, family friend and colleague David Conley became captivated with Celtic folk music while living in England. They began to explore these styles together and as public demand grew, they partnered with local folk musician Luke Brodine to found Emerald Road in 2006. Since then they have performed at many Upstate events and venues and released their self-titled debut CD on MacDowell Recordings label. When Luke Brodine moved from the area in 2008, the remaining members joined with Danny Miller, an area traditional Irish music performer and songwriter and Michael Peckham, a multi-talented instrumentalist and singer. In 2010, mandolin and guitar player David Benedict joined the group. Anderson Symphony Orchestra audiences will remember Emerald Road’s performance at the 2008 Celtic Celebration concert for the Anderson International Festival. Emerald Road released their first self-titled CD on MacDowell Recordings label in 2008 and is currently working on a new recording to be released soon.

McGee’s Irish Pub & Restaurant will serve a 4-course dinner for the event beginning at 7:30pm with Emerald Road’s performance. Featuring an appetizer medley, salad, main entrée and dessert, each course will be paired with house wines, domestic draft beers and/or soft drinks. An optional cash bar “Celtic Cocktail Hour” will begin at 6:30pm and will feature Black Velvets, champagne, cocktails, honey mead and an Irish whiskey tasting. Special dietary requests can be accommodated, however, they must be requested at the time of the reservation.

Prices for this special benefit event are $35 per person plus tax and gratuity with an additional charge of $15 for those wishing to attend the Celtic Cocktail Hour. Reservations are required and special dietary requests must be made in advance. For reservations and further information, please call McGee’s Irish Pub & Restaurant at (864) 261-6401.
