GAMAC Guild

The Golden Ticket

With the advent of the 2009 school year, the GAMAC Guild launched its new “Golden Ticket” voucher program in Anderson County public and private schools. Designed to make concert accessible to all children in our community, the program is expected to reach over 2,000 elementary, middle school and high school students this year.

Based on similar ticket voucher programs used by orchestras throughout the country, the “Golden Ticket” is redeemable for one-time use at select Masterworks and Anderson Symphony series concert events. The voucher entitles the bearer to one free student ticket along with one free adult ticket for an accompanying parent or guardian. By offering a complimentary ticket to an accompanying adult, the Guild hopes to make GAMAC concerts more affordable for families to enjoy.

Distributing the “Golden Ticket” is an ongoing and rewarding project for Guild members that fosters strong partnerships with local schools. Working with GAMAC staff, the Guild designed an attractive water-bottle printed with its logo. Ticket vouchers were printed on bright gold paper and then stuffed in increments of 100 into each bottle. Personal notes to general music, chorus, band and orchestra teachers were attached to the outside with gold ribbon and the bottles were hand delivered to the teachers by Guild volunteers. Teachers are encouraged to distribute the vouchers to students as rewards for work well done and to enjoy the water-bottles as a token of the Guild’s appreciation for their outstanding work each school year. To date over 1,000 vouchers have been distributed with another 1,500 expected to reach schools by mid-October.

The “Golden Ticket” is made possible with generous support from The Wachovia Foundation, Anderson County and Publix Supermarket Charities. To find out how you can bring the “Golden Ticket” to your child’s class, please call GAMAC at (864) 231-6147.
